Elemental Technologies, which has been known for its software encoding solutions, has broadened its product portfolio with the introduction of Elemental Delta, a comprehensive video delivery platform. Elemental Delta is for telco, OTT, broadcast, satellite and mobile operators seeking to deliver time-shifted TV including VOD, start-over TV and nPVR, across multiple devices.
Elemental Delta includes just-in-time packaging, origin services, intelligent caching, dynamic ad insertion and content protection. The system is meant to simplify workflows and provide a cost-effective option for companies delivering video across screens, by lowering storage, bandwidth and transit costs. Elemental Delta integrates with existing content delivery networks. Elemental Delta supports HDS, HLS, Smooth Streaming and MPEG-DASH for on-demand, live and time-shifted video.
Elemental said that Elemental Delta is already being used by operators in France, Qatar, U.K., U.S., Sweden, New Zealand and Brazil. At Elemental's press event at IBC, Euan McLeod, director of digital media technologies for Turner, described how Turner is using Elemental Delta for its CNNx video-on-demand service.
