The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday it has struck a long-term distribution agreement with AT&T U-verse, which will deliver Disney’s sports, news and entertainment content to the telecom company’s TV customers, be it on television screens, computers, gaming consoles or tablets.
In total, 70 services are included in the new arrangement, including ABC, ESPN 3D, an upcoming ABC-Univision joint venture, the Disney Channel, Disney XD and 10 HD channels.
“The renewal agreement enhances the multichannel business model and supports the companies’ mutual goal to deliver the best video content to customers across multiple platforms,” Disney said in a release Tuesday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Disney said it will last multiple years.
The deal includes expanded rights for VOD for shows including Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, Bunheads, Good Luck Charlie, Handy Manny and others.
“Our U-verse customers expect access to content when they want it, where they want it, and this renewal gives them more value and access to a variety of live and on-demand content in and outside the home,” said Jeff Weber, president of content and advertising sales for AT&T Home Solutions.
