NEW YORK – Satellite TV provider Dish Network said Wednesday that it is adding shows from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and truTV, all part of Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting System unit, to its expanding array of online content at dishonline.com.
The shows include Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Adventure Time and Regular Show from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital, Robot Chicken and Venture Brothers, as well as truTV’s Operation Repo and Hardcore Pawn.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Dish customers who subscribe to packages that include the networks can watch the content on the site within 24 hours after an episode airs.
Content from TW’s TBS and TNT channels is also available through dishonline.com.
Dish has been expanding its content offerings on the site and also recently acquired Blockbuster, which it is also expected to leverage as part of its online video strategy. While Dish boss Charlie Ergen hasn’t outlined the firm’s online strategy in detail, some observers have said the company is beefing up its programming available on the Web in response to the success of Netflix.
“Following on the heels of Dish Network’s launch of HBO Go through dishonline.com, we continue to add to the thousands of titles that our customers can watch on-demand, anytime and anywhere,” said Dave Shull, senior vp of programming at the satellite TV giant. “Dish Network gives customers the most choices for watching their content, whether online or in the living room in front of the TV.”
