COLOGNE, Germany – Maxdome, the online video operation run by German broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1, has signed an exclusive VOD deal with Universal Music to offer on-demand streamings and downloads of concerts from Universal recording artists, including Rihanna, Snow Patrol, and Eminem.
The deal also includes concerts from Universal’s back catalogue, featuring legendary musicians as Jimi Hendrix and bands such as Nirvana.
Prices for downloads will start at around $4 a pop as well as being available via subscription. Maxdome, which has content deals with all the major Hollywood studios, is one of Germany’s largest VOD services and boasts a catalogue of more than 35,000 titles. ProSieben is focusing even more attention on maxdome now that its plans to create a Hulu-style platform with German broadcaster RTL have been blocked by local regulators.
