LAS VEGAS — In yet another move aimed at improving the way in which consumers discover and access content, Samsung and Comcast have partnered to launch the Comcast Xfinity TV service on Samsung Smart TVs and on Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab devices.
The new Xfinity TV service, developed with a Web-like interface, is aimed at enabling a more seamless search across TV, DVR recordings and VOD. The companies suggest that on the tablet, the Xfinity TV experience is a “virtual television guide and a mobile video player all in one.”
Features include the ability to watch streaming TV shows and movies on demand directly on the tablet. Consumers can access that content across multiple devices. The service’s roadmap includes the ability to begin watching a movie on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, then pause and resume watching it on a Samsung Smart TV or vice versa.
