Streamer Discovery+ Touts Early Wins but No Subscriber Tally

New Streamer Discovery+ Touts Early Success, but Subscriber Count Is Unclear

Discovery has more than 11 million total streaming accounts, but didn't break out specific numbers

After rolling out Discovery+ less than two months ago, Discovery executives say the two-tiered streaming service is off to a roaring start. But when it comes to subscriber numbers, you’ll have to take the company’s word for it: Discovery executives aren’t breaking out new subscriber figures for the streaming service.

Instead, on a call with investors Monday morning, Discovery CEO David Zaslav provided overall figures for Discovery’s total paying direct-to-consumer subscribers globally, which includes both Discovery+ and regional direct-to-consumer offerings in other markets. The company has 11 million total DTC subscriptions, and expects to clear 12 million subscribers by the end of the month.
