HBO is coming to Sony‘s PlayStation, and consumers will have more than one way to pay for the network: An app for HBO’s standalone subscription service HBO Now went live on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 Thursday. Additionally, HBO and Cinemax are now also available through Sony’s PlayStation Vue TV service, which launched a premium movie tier Thursday.
PlayStation Vue subscribers can now get access to both HBO and Showtime as well as more than 100 other cable channels for $65 a month. Consumers who live in one of the metro markets where Sony offers access to local broadcast TV will have to pay $75 per month for the new PlayStation Vue Ultra package.
Alternatively, Vue subscribers can also add HBO or Cinemax to any other package for $15 each per month. And if that wasn’t complicated enough, there’s also an option to access HBO through PlayStation Vue for consumers that previously subscribed to the standalone tier and now decide to add some more pay TV to their viewing diet.
Sony first launched its PlayStation Vue TV service some 18 months ago as an internet-based TV service, and has since gradually expanded both its content catalog as well as the number of devices it is available on. This summer, the service launched both on Roku and Android.
