Media platform BitTorrent has added former CNN producer Harrison Bohrman as its first-ever news director.
Bohrman has been assigned to build a news team from the ground up, leading the development, planning and production for BitTorrent News as a live-streaming TV news network.
Most recently, Bohrman was a senior development producer at Vice’s new TV network, Viceland. Prior to that, Bohrman spent five years covering presidential elections and breaking news stories as a writer and producer at CNN.
The newly appointed news director has won three Peabody Awards and an Emmy Award. His work was also nominated for GLAAD’s outstanding TV journalism segment award. While at CNN, Bohrman co-created the original series “What the Week” with Pete Dominick.
In 2009, Bohrman assisted in the relaunch of “In Session,” formerly Court TV. He has also worked in film, co-producing the graffiti documentary “Bomb It.”
Variety reported last month that BitTorrent was considering the launch of a TV news network for its live streaming service in time for the election this fall. BitTorrent launched a P2P-powered live video service called BitTorrent Live in May.
