Aereo Asset Auction Gives Buyers Bargain on Online-TV Technology

Aereo Inc., the Barry Diller-backed startup whose online-video service ran afoul of U.S. copyright law, may still play a part in revolutionizing how TV is watched, if only as a carcass for established tech giants to pick over.

The company is putting intellectual property and hardware up for sale at a bankruptcy auction Tuesday to pay creditors. While the assets may not fetch much -- New York-based Aereo has suggested as little as $4 million -- they could play a strategic role for a new owner.
