Maker Studios is beefing up its sales team with the appointment of AOL veteran Charles Gabriel to the newly created role of chief advertising officer and executive vp global sales.
As the title suggests, Gabriel will lead Maker’s global sales strategy and drive worldwide ad revenue. He will report to Maker head of sales Jason Krebs.
Prior to joining Maker, Gabriel led sale and strategy for AOL’s video business as senior vp global video sales. He also oversaw the integration of Adapt.TV, the advertising platform that AOL acquired in 2013, into the company’s video business.
“Charles is widely recognized as a thought leader in the online video space, with a proven track record of growing ad revenue and nurturing media talent,” said Krebs. “His expertise and experience working with the world’s top brands and advertisers and growing a team of industry leaders will be key as we expand our platform around the globe.”
The digital media firm, which was recently acquired by Disney, has announced several new advertising services for its network of YouTube creators. They include LABS@Maker, which connects brand advertisers to creators, and Maker Offers, which allows brands to connect with consumers via native programming and social programs.
