“With more than 15 years of online media experience selling to some of the world’s most renowned brands, Kevin is a world-class professional who knows how to accelerate revenue growth, making him the perfect addition to lead our sales and business development teams,” Shazam CEO Rich Riley said in a statement.

For Hulu, McGurn’s departure is one of the latest in a series of high-level departures, including CEO Jason Kilar earlier this year. Hulu’s owners — News Corp., Walt Disney Co. and 21st Century Fox — were shopping the Internet TV site before deciding to retain the joint venture and invest $750 million in the company.

Hulu declined to comment. McGurn had been with the company for six years.

Prior to Hulu, McGurn led the national advertising and media business at the National Broadband Company, a now-defunct NBC Universal venture marketplace for digital video syndication. Shazam, whose headquarters are in London, said it plans to roughly double the size of its New York operations, as well as its Los Angeles staff in Brentwood.
