Viacom‘s MTV is bringing full episodes of “Teen Wolf,” “Catfish” and other current series to Xbox 360 consoles — but you’ll need to subscribe to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold service to watch them, and also have service from a participating pay-TV partner to get more than the most recent ep.
The new app will provide subscribers of Xbox Live Gold, which costs $60 per year, access to full-length episodes of MTV programs both past and present. For any user, the most recent full episodes of current shows will be accessible, as will select older programming like “Laguna Beach” and “Beavis and Butt-head.”

But there’s another wall in this garden: The most recent five eps of current shows are available only to subscribers of Viacom’s “TV Everywhere” partner providers. Those include DirecTV, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, AT&T U-verse, Cablevision, Bright House Networks, Suddenlink, RCN and Hawaiian Telecom.
Comcast and Dish Network are the two biggest pay TV providers that aren’t yet participating in Viacom’s program.

MTV’s launch on Xbox comes after teen-skewing cabler introduced its first TV Everywhere app — for iPads and iPhones — in June.
The MTV app for Xbox will provide additional video, including clips from the Video Music Awards, MTV News and web originals from MTV Other. Users can navigate the app with an Xbox 360 controller or with hand gestures or voice commands via the Kinect attachment.
Nickelodeon, a little-sister channel to MTV, debuted an Xbox app earlier this month which similarly offers one free full-length ep from current shows, with additional episodes available through participating TV Everywhere providers. In addition, the Nick app on Xbox 360 offers an array of short-form clips and photos of the channel’s talent.
