BERLIN – European Internet TV platform Zattoo had its best-month ever in June thanks to its live streams of matches during the Euro 2012 soccer championships. The company, which operates in Germany, Spain, Denmark and the U.K., said its total registered user base jumped to 10.6 million during the Euro 2012 period.
Strongest growth came in Germany, where Zattoo notched up 330,000 new users and some 600,000 downloaded Zattoo’s mobile app for smartphones and tablets. The online service carried live streams of Euro 2012 matches carried on German pubwebs ARD and ZDF.
Zattoo, which carries mainly European free-to-air public broadcasters as well as news channels such as CNN and France24, launched during the soccer World Cup in 2006.
