COLOGNE, Germany – HBO has signed the first content deal for its new Scandinavian VOD service, inking a porgramming agreement for a package of titles from FremantleMedia Enterprises including the drama Hit and Miss starring Chloe Sevigny and the comedy Web Therapy featuring Lisa Kudrow.
New Britannia and Morgan Spurlock’s A Day In The Life are among the factual titles included in the VOD deal.
The licensing agreement is the first for HBO Nordic, the joint venture between Time Warner’s HBO and Parsifal International which is set to launch in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland in mid-October.
The Scandinavian VOD service will go head to head with Netflix’s service in the region, which is also set to launch in the fourth quarter.
HBO Nordic will offer subscribers all seasons of hit HBO series such as Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and True Blood as well as library product including The Sopranos, Sex and the City and The Wire in addition to a raft of both studio and independent feature films.
